Local author re-launches failed satire page, claims it might work this time

1 min read

DALLAS―Nick Powers, a local author, re-launches his failed satire news outlet, Big Citia Tribune in hopes it will this time add something useful to his portfolio.

“I mean… last time, it didn’t not work,” said Powers, the author known for other works including As the Pizza Burns, (also available on Audible) Eclipse: A Nick Powers Game, and Toys in the Attic.

Powers said that last time, the Big Citia Tribune paid for itself for a total of three months without ads before slipping through the cracks of inescapable debt.

“It was either kill the page or allow the page to be run with ads,” Powers told a reporter. “One of them was uncomfortable, but the other was outright immoral.”

Powers also claims that this time, he’s hosting the page using a more economically acceptable way.

“I don’t really want to talk about how broke I am right now, okay?” said Powers. “Let’s just make sure to donate this time and hope for the best.”

If Big Citia Tribune finds success online, Powers said it will remain ad-free.

“Ads are stupid,” Powers told a reporter. “I’m fucking done with them.”

In the meantime, feel free to donate to Big Citia Tribune or go to the home page and check out a few other satire headlines.
