“I didn’t make a mistake,” says Texas Governor. “The outcome was just worse than we expected.”
1 min readAUSTIN—Texas Governor Abbot told the press Friday that he didn’t make any mistakes in the handling of COVID-19, following questions of why he didn’t keep the state’s business closed instead of opening them back up.
“I understand now that our businesses should stay closed to stop the spread of COVID-19, which is a belief I didn’t have before,” said Governor Abbott. “However, I want it to be very clear that I didn’t make any mistakes during this process.”
He continued by saying, “I made a decision. The outcome of that decision was far worse than I predicted it would be, but it wasn’t a mistake or accident. I’ve just decided to change my mind and close businesses back up.”
Abbott announced that restaurants would operate at 50% capacity, bars would be closed, and counties will now be allowed to enforce the use of masks and social distancing.
