“I can tell which news is fake,” claims Facebook friend who routinely shares giveaway posts

DALLAS—A grossly incompetent man on Facebook claimed Wednesday afternoon that he doesn’t support social media’s role in fact-checking politicians. This is the exact same person who tagged his friends in obviously fake giveaway posts.

“Ellen DeGeneres invited me to like and share her post,” says the man, clearly ignorant about the fact that he’s up to his knees in misinformation. “I can tell it’s legitimate because it’s her legitimate fan page. If it weren’t, it wouldn’t have her name on it.”

“It even has the word ‘Real’ in the name!” he added.

The man continued to say that he doesn’t support Twitter fact-checking the President of the United States because that move would take away Donald Trump’s freedom of speech.

“Besides,” he commented, “if he posted something misleading, anyone could easily figure it out for themselves.”

The man continued to defend himself in the comments by declaring that masks don’t help prevent COVID-19, police officers aren’t violent toward minorities, Mitch McConnell isn’t suppressing votes in Kentucky, and Fox and Friends was a great way to stay informed on relevant topics.”
